Osun Based Blind Adire Fabric Producer, Adebayo Begs Gov Adeleke, Political Office Holders For Patronage

A visually impaired Osun based producer of local Adire fabric, Muritala Adebayo, has appealed to Governor Ademola Adeleke to lead by example in purchasing his product.

Adebayo made the appeal while granting interview to Blaze Newz at his African Crafts Shop, Testing Ground, Osogbo, on Thursday.

He said move by the Governor to patronize his quality Adire fabric will put more money into the pockets of Persons With Disability, PWD, in the state.

He also called on other political office holders to consider patronizing his products saying all lawmakers of the previous Osun State House of Assembly patronized him in the purchase of Adire fabric.

Adebayo, who trains PWDs on Adire fabric production has more than thirty casual workers with few able body staff.

Lamenting poor income from his Adire fabric production to cater for his staff, Adebayo said “I pay my workers daily, they also have family to feed and training PWDs with Adire making will stop them from embarking on street begging.”

Blaze Newz gathered that the African Arts Shop is housed in a building that was constructed through assistance from the Osun Agency for Community and Social Development (Osun-CSDA).

It has studios section and showroom, where ready made items are displayed.

According to Adebayo “Nigerians in diaspora buy Adire fabric from us because of the quality.

“I am pleading to Mr Governor to lead by example by patronizing our Adire fabric, doing so will give others confidence to patronize our product ” Adebayo added.

He also suggested that Osun government should once in every four months visit the PWD, tell them to display their goods and patronize them.

“This will stop them from sharing money to us during electioneering period” he said.

Blaze Newz gathered that Governor Adeleke like his predecessor, Gboyega Oyetola mandated all civil servants including political office holders to wear Adire fabric every Wednesday.
