Embrace Sports With Academics For Your Students - Afolabi Urges Secondary School Managements In Osun The chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the February 22, 2025 local government election, Hon Lukman Afolabi, has appealed to secondary school managements across the state to embrace sports for their students. Afolabi made this appeal while delivering a short speech during this year's Baptist High School, Ede, inter-house sports on Monday. "I feel highly honored to be the chairman of today’s occasion as you all know i graduated from this school some decades ago" he said. The erstwhile secretary of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Osun chapter, who expressed his love for sport stressed that it will gladden his heart to see all the pupils who competed in the Baptist High School, Ede, inter-house sport to represent Edeland, Osun state and Nigeria at large in world athletics. He commended the school management, the sport committee and parents for providing opportunity for the students to compete in sports and not only in academics. According to Afolabi "the primary focus in many of our schools is academics, which certainly is an important aspect in building a student’s career and life but many failed to recognize the importance of sports which build cordial relationships between the students and beyond. "Sport plays a vital role in making the students healthy and make the school environment friendly. "It will be my joy to see all this student representing Ede land, Osun State and Nigeria at large in world athletics" he said.
