NSCDC Drags 38 Year-Old Man To Court For Defrauding IBEDC Customers

A 38 year-old man,Akinola Abideen has been dragged on Wednesday by Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) before a chief magistrate’s court sitting in Ikire,Irewole Local Government,Osun State for allegedly defrauding Ibadan Electricity Distributory Campany (IBEDC) customers.

The suspect, who is a native of Ikire and former IBEDC staff was arraigned with two count charges,on February 12, 2019 in Ayedaaye area he was said to have commited an offence by parading himself as IBEDC staff,collected money from the electricity company customers in Ikire town and also collected 30 thousand Naira from one Awogbade Wasiu under the pretence to provide him with pripaid meter.

The accused person pleaded not guity to the two county charges.

The defence counsel.Leke Dada prayed to the court to grant the accused person a bail on a liberal term promised he will not jump bail,

He further said the accused person is ready to stand for his trial and will coperate with the court.

The prosecutor,Principal Investigator Officer II, Opeyemi Adeniran did not opposed to the request to grant the accused person bail as requested by his defence counsel.

Presiding Senior Magistrate, A.A. Ayeni in his ruling granted the accused person a bail with the sum of 100 thousand naira with one surety.

He further said the surety must be gainfully employed, reside within the jurisdiction of the court and must sworn an affidavit which his address must be confirmed by the court.

Magistrate Ayeni later adjourned the case to 17th day of April for hearing.
