Group Drags Osun LG Chair, Obeisun To ICPC Over Alleged Misappropriation Of N52 Million

A human rights Organization, the Centre for Human and Socioeconomic Rights (CHSR) has called on the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to investigate Hon. Obeisun Bunmi Ezekiel, the Chairman of Oriade Local Government Area , Osun State over Fifty Two Million And Twenty Thousand Naira Only (N52,020,000) misconduct.

A petition submitted to ICPC Lagos office on Friday, signed by the coordinator Comrade Olatunde Owoeye – Wise, said the group wants the anti graft agency to investigate the fund misappropriated under the watch of Hon. Obeisun, between the years of 2018 to 2021.

Hon Obeisun Bunmi Ezekiel, who served as a parliamentarian Chairman of Oriade LG committed the financial irregularity around July 2019 to February 2020.

The human rights group said its received a document on the alleged financial irregularities which exposed the fraudulent mismanagement of Fifty Two Million and Twenty Thousand Naira Only (₦52,020,000) by Hon. Obeisun Bunmi Ezekiel.

According to CHSR, “As an organization which one of our Core vision is to Campaign against Corrupt practices in Nigeria, we lay our hand on some vital documents that expressly indict the alleged person over financial atrocities committed while holding a public office as the council chairman of Oriade Local Government Area between the years 2018 to 2021 and he is presently the caretaker chairman of the same local government as at today.

“We resolve that folding our arms will mean we have lost touch with our vision.

“We, therefore see this matter as of great public interest, which your agency is the only body that can investigate, set genuine recommendations and prosecute if the, need arise

“That the said allegation is as follows:
Non-transparency and disclosure to the council, Illegal contracting of Road grading out without Approvals
Diversion of Funds and non-remittance of income in to Government account Illegal service of loans with internally generated revenue (IGR) of the Local Government, fraud on projects and programs, Diversion of public office holders allowance, Procurement of Vehicles, Dereliction of Duties Non-rending of Statement of Income and Expenditure and, Breach of the Code of Conduct.” the petition stated

CHSR, therefore, charged the agency to identify all culpable involved in the misappropriation of treasury of Oriade Local Government Area and the culprits be brought to face the wrath of the law.
