Buhari Dismisses Onnoghen ,Appoints Tanko As Ag CJN

President Muhammadu Buhari today,Friday dismissed the embattled Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Walter Onnoghen and immediated appointed Mr. Ibrahim Tanko Muhammed who hails from Bauchi state to fill the vacant office as acting CJN.
President Buhari made this know through his media aide, Bashir Ahmad, who shared the news on his Twitter page, Onnoghen was suspended based on the order of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).
Information gathers that the acting CJN, Muhammed was sworn in by President Buhari this afternoon at the council chamber of State House Presidential Villa, Abuja. See Ahmad’s tweet below:
Justice Onnoghen is facing trial over alleged false asset declaration brought against him by the Code of Conduct Bureau. Recall that early Friday, CJN Onnoghen dispelled some media reports suggesting that he has resigned from office.
The CJN made his position known through his media assistant, Awassam Bassey, on Friday, January 25.
