Osun Eyes N109b From IGR As Adeleke Gives Breakdown Of 2025 Budget

The Commissioner for Budget and Economy Planning, Professor Morufu Adeleke, has said the state government, under Governor Ademola Adeleke, is looking forward towards achieving N109,870,932,830.00 as Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), for the year 2025.

Adeleke disclosed this while addressing newsmen on Thursday at the state Finance Building, Abere.

Speaking on the already signed 2025 Osun budget of N427,746,925,170.0, Prof Adeleke said the budget initially presented by Governor Adeleke before the state House of Assembly was N390,028,277,740.00 before it was later jacked up.

The Finance Commissioner noted that the later increased budget became necessary in order to accommodate the increasing citizens’ needs.

“One Hundred and Nine Billion, Eight Hundred and Seventy Million, Nine Hundred and Thirty-Two Thousand, Eight Hundred and Thirty Naira (N109,870,932,830.00) is expected from Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), while Thirty-Six Billion, Two Hundred and Four Million, Six Hundred and Ninety- Nine Thousand, Two Hundred and Thirty Naira (N36,204,699,230.00) from other capital reciepts as well as Thirty Billion, One Million, One Hundred and Twenty- Five Thousand, One Hundred and Twenty Naira (N30,001,125,120.00) being the estimated Opening Balance. All these make up the total inflow expected as revenue to the State” Prof Adeleke said.

Reeling out the budget sector by sector, Governance and Administration Sector 59,162,169,140.00, Human Capital Development Sector 46,981,263,870.00, Agriculture Sector 7,162,112,850.00, Economic Planning and Budget Sector 4,209,391,640.00, Commerce and Industry Sector 4,818,903,350.00, Culture and Tourism Sector 6,255,970,530.00

Others are; Education Sector 57,451,429,850.00, Solid Mineral Resources Sector 5,702,456,970.00, Environment Sector 6,624,277,030.00, Health Sector 31,243,696,200.00, Infrastructure Sector 109,013,646,780.00
, Social Welfare and Youth Development Sector 13,472,941,320.00, Security, Law, and Justice Sector 8,068,502,160.00, Information and Communication Sector 2,802,903,370.00, Water and Sanitation Sector 8,517,063,580.00, Finance and Revenue Mobilization Sector 56,260,196,530.00.

Commenting on the significance of the 2025 budget, Prof. Adeleke said it “was crafted to fast-track the revitalisation of various sectors of the State economy by putting the State on the path of sustainable development and focusing on education, health, sports, roads, agriculture, creative industry, digital economy, and general infrastructure alongside women and youth programmes and policies.

“The budget process was carefully and meticulously done with stakeholders, such as Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Members of Traditional Council, Market Women & Men Associations, Members of NURTW, Religious Leaders, Opinion Leaders, and other relevant stakeholders.

“The 2025 budget was predicated on Government policies and influenced by macro-economic variables such as inflation rate, GDP growth rate, exchange rate, oil price, as well as the citizens’ needs, leading to a significant upsurge of 56% as against the 2024 budget.

“The budget aims at achieving the Government policy through the implementation of the 5-point Development Agenda of this Administration as listed below, which are in-line with the State Development Plans and Sustainable Development Goals” he said.

He further noted that as a revenue driven budget, the State will achieve a more stable revenue stream by fostering economic growth within the State to increase revenue generation.

He therefore, urged citizens of the State to cooperate with revenue generating agencies of the state, in order to achieve the developmental goal of the state government.
