EndBadGovernance : DSS Threatens To Sue Protester
The Department of State Services, DSS, has sent a letter to Khalid Aminu, an #EndBadGovernance protester, requesting a retraction of his recent claim that he was brutalized while in their custody.
It would be recalled that 76 #Endbadgovernance protesters from Kano, Kaduna States were arrested and detained.
Aminu, an engineer, was among several individuals arrested during the August protests in Kano and other northern states.
Following his release, he appeared on a Channels Television program where he alleged that DSS officers tortured him during his detention.

“What I went through, what we went through was inhuman; I can’t even begin to describe everything,” Aminu stated.
“On August 3rd, they arrested us at NEPA Roundabout and immediately began beating us with boots and kicks. Then they loaded us into their Hilux and SUVs and took us to the Command.
“Upon arrival, I was struck with a strong cane, similar to an armored cable. If I pull up my shirt, you can see the marks. They started beating me while I was flat on the ground, using all kinds of sticks and cables.”

In a letter dated November 25, 2024, the DSS, through by their lawyer, Mohammed Sani Ndanusa, SAN, stated that Aminu’s allegations were intentionally made to damage the agency’s reputation.
The letter, titled, ‘Re: Allegation of Torture By Department of State Security Officials While Undertaking Custody in Kaduna’, claimed that Aminu’s allegations misrepresented the facts and were a deliberate attempt to harm the image of the DSS and undermine the agency’s hard-earned reputation.
