Four Suspected NANS Members Arrested With Firearm In Osun

The Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Ibrahim Gotan, has said operatives of the command have arrested four persons who claimed to be undergraduates for being in possession of gun, cutlasses and charms.
A statement issued on behalf of the CP by the Police Public Relations Officer in the command, Abiodun Ojelabi, on Thursday, disclosed that the four suspects were arrested by the CP’s Surveillance Squad on June 24, 2025 at about 8:30pm upon credible information.

He explained that the squad, led by its commander, while on stop and search along Osogbo-Ilesa Road, Osogbo intercepted a Toyota Camry with Registration number: PRESIDENCY NANS 27ZD. NANS means National Association of Nigerian Students.
The statement disclosed that the vehicle, driven by one Adewale Kehinde, aged 25, was also occupied by three others including one Adebayo Ayuba, 22 years, Olasupo Abeeb, 23 years and 21 year-old Adeniyi Mustapha.
Ojelabi said all the suspects claimed to be students after they were nabbed and caught with the gun and other incriminating items.
He added that investigation revealed that the acclaimed students have been terrorising the people of Ijesaland.
The statement read, “On 24/06/2024 at about 8:30pm, upon a credible information, the Command’s CP’s Surveillance squad led by the Commander on stop and search along Osogbo-Ilesa Road, Osogbo intercepted a Toyota Camry with Registration number: PRESIDENCY NANS 27ZD driven by one Adewale Kehinde ‘m’ age 25 years and three (3) other occupants one Adebayo Ayuba ‘m’ age 22 years, Olasupo Abeeb ‘m’ age 23 years and Adeniyi Mustapha ‘m’ age 21 years. They claimed to be students.
“The vehicle was thoroughly searched and an English Beretta Pistol and two empty magazines that were carefully concealed in a box inside the vehicle were recovered alongside a cutlass and some criminal charms. Investigation reveals that the suspects are criminals terrorizing Ilesa/Osu and its environs.”
