LG Crisis : ALGON Tells Osun CBN Controller To Request For Transfer If Difficult To Respect Rule Of Law

As the struggle of opening local government accounts for the 30 councils of Osun State continues, the elected Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmen have called on President Bola Tinubu and Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, to wade into the alleged unethical conduct of the Controller of the State CBN branch.
The council chairmen, under the aegis of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Osun chapter, on Tuesday alleged that the CBN branch controller gave form for the opening of LG accounts to impostors on Monday, despite the latest Court of Appeal judgment.

Blaze Newz gathered that the state CBN branch controller was recently transferred to Osun amidst the ongoing controversy surrounding the opening of LG accounts.

Addressing newsmen at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs, Abere, Chairman of the Osun ALGON, Hon. Sarafadeen Awotunde, accused the Osogbo CBN branch controller of ignoring them with unethical conduct when they approached the bank on Tuesday.
Awotunde expressed shock over the conduct of the Osun CBN branch controller, saying he and five others approached the bank on Tuesday morning to open LG accounts but were left stranded at the gate while the controller refused to let them in after an unsuccessful approach on Monday.
The ALGON chairman urged the state CBN branch controller to request a transfer out of the state, “If she is not up to date or does not want to respect the rule of law, she should just ask for a transfer and return to the headquarters and allow the person who will respect the rule of law and do the job diligently to come.”

“Giving anybody any advantage at the back of the door is a breach and a criminal offense because CBN is not Awotunde’s group of company; CBN is owned by the government and Nigerians,” he added.
Speaking on the latest success recorded from the Akure Court of Appeal judgment that validated the February 22 election, which brought them into office as duly elected chairmen, Awotunde said, “I want to appreciate our dear President who is acting according to the rule of law, who is among those who spearheaded and fought for the existence of democracy in Nigeria.”
“We want to appreciate him for not having any interference in the judiciary.” He, however, called on the Osun All Progressives Congress and the Yes/No chairmen to accept defeat, saying, “If you rejoice when you win, then try to have the spirit to concede defeat.”
He warned that they would no longer tolerate the opposition party over the LG crisis, “We are being very silent; we don’t make trouble. The newly elected chairmen, we appreciate NULGE and all civil servants, all directors. We manifested to the world that we are peace-loving, that we don’t want chaos and anarchy in Osun State, but enough is enough.”
