Osun Amotekun Personnel Drag To Court Over Alleged Assault

The Osun State Security Network Agency, code named known as Amotekun Corps, has firmly denied recent allegations made by APC governorship aspirant, Bola Oyebamiji, accusing the Corps of being part of a plan to forcefully take over local government councils in the state.

In a statement released on Tuesday in Osogbo, the Corps’ Public Relations Officer, Yusuf Idowu Abass, described the claims as baseless, irresponsible, and intended to mislead the public. He emphasized that the Amotekun Corps has neither received nor acted upon any directive—formal or informal—to interfere with or seize control of any local government secretariat.

“Our mandate remains clear: to provide intelligence-driven, community-based security services within the confines of the law. At no time have we deviated from that responsibility,” Abass stated.

The Corps further cautioned political figures against making inflammatory remarks capable of inciting unrest or undermining public confidence in the state’s security institutions.

“Osun Amotekun is a non-partisan agency committed to the rule of law and the safety of all residents across the 30 local government areas. We will not be drawn into political theatrics or allow our name to be used in any form of reckless politicking,” the statement added.

While the Corps expressed openness to constructive feedback and institutional oversight, it warned against deliberate attempts to misrepresent its mission or defame its personnel.

“We urge the public to disregard these unfounded allegations. Our commitment to peace, lawful conduct, and professional integrity remains unwavering,” Abass concluded.
