Osun 2026 : Group Stages Solidarity Walk, Urges Ganduje, Akande, Oyetola, Others To Zone Guber Ticket To West Senatorial

A political group within the Osun All Progressives Congress, APC, The Progressives Frontliners, TPF, has called on the leadership of the party to consider zoning the 2026 gubernatorial ticket of the party to west senatorial district of the state.
The group made this known on Thursday in a press statement signed by its
State Coordinator, Ajijola Ayodele, and made available to newsmen in Osogbo.
The group members also staged solidarity walk in Osogbo in order for the world to understand their plight .

Blaze Newz recalls that some other groups within the Osun APC including traditional rulers of Osun West had all agitated for the party gubernatorial ticket from being zoned to party of the state.
TPF statement reads in full;
Gentlemen of the press and dear members of The Progressives Frontliners (TPF), as the holy month of Ramadan dawns upon us, we extend our warmest greetings to our Muslim brothers and sisters across Osun State and beyond. This sacred period, filled with reflection, prayer, and acts of charity, offers a profound opportunity for renewal and strengthening of faith.
“It is a time when the dignity of fasting draws us closer to the divine and encourages us to embrace the values of compassion, unity, and peace. As our Muslim community continue to observe this year Ramadan, we remain committed to fostering an atmosphere of harmony and solidarity.
“In the spirit of the ongoing Ramadan, we want to use this opportunity to urge the leadership of the party from President Bola Tinubu, Chief Bisi Akande, Abdulahi Ganduje, National Secretary of APC, Senator Ajibola Basiru, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, Alhaji Tajudeen Lawal, the chairman of Osun APC and most reserved elder caucus, the Agba-Osun to convene urgent meeting to unanimously agree on zoning of Osun APC guber ticket to Osun West Senatorial District.
“When this is done, it will make the party to be focused ahead of the primary and also prepare other districts to work harder in canvassing support for the party.
“The meeting is necessary to prevent aspirants from other districts in polarizing the party. We are committed to the unity and progress of the party ahead of the 2026 election.
“For numerous years, the Osun West Senatorial District has been instrumental in advancing the party’s vision and objectives. They have wholeheartedly backed progressive candidates from other districts, defying all obstacles in every gubernatorial election. Despite this steadfast loyalty and dedication, no aspirant from Osun West has been afforded the privilege of representing our party in gubernatorial elections since the restoration of democracy in 1999.******
“This pattern of oversight is a gentle reminder of the need to uphold the promise of inclusivity that the APC stands for. Our party, founded on the ideals of progressivism, transparency, and justice, must take into account the historical context and ensure equitable representation across all senatorial districts. Ramadan serves as an ideal time to reflect upon and correct past oversights, drawing inspiration from its principles of fairness and redemption.
“It is no longer a revelation that Osun West is endowed with dynamic communities brimming with resourceful individuals who have persistently contributed to the triumphs of the APC and the socioeconomic advancement of the state as a whole. Nonetheless, their voices have seldom resonated within the upper echelons of political power. We assert that presenting a candidate from Osun West with the opportunity to represent the APC in the forthcoming 2026 gubernatorial election is not merely a tactical maneuver to reclaim the state from the mismanagement of the PDP, but also a genuine act of progressive reform and recognition of the district’s pivotal role in our shared history.
“Let us remember that our collective made a similar appeal during our previous press engagement to usher in the new year. We hope this Ramadan period transforms the hearts and minds of our party’s leadership, guiding them towards decisions that embody the genuine values of the APC. We implore the party leadership to seize this opportunity, fostering inclusiveness by considering a competent candidate who has faithfully served the party’s interests from Osun West. In doing so, we uphold the message of Ramadan: one of justice, equality, and embracing all voices within our community.
“We extend our warmest Ramadan wishes to the distinguished members of APC and all Muslims throughout the state. May this holy month usher peace, prosperity, and blessings into your homes. Let us endeavor to create a future where every corner of Osun State is duly represented and encompassed within the APC’s vision for the forthcoming gubernatorial elections. May the collective aspirations for progress and unity prevail, embodying the true essence of our progressive ideals.
“As a formidable group within the APC, we have rallied thousands of our members to reclaim Osun State in 2026, urging our party members to persist until this aspiration becomes reality. The people of Osun are anticipating APC leadership, and we must not let them down.
“We also extend our condolences to our party and the families of the valiant individuals who lost their lives during the council administration turmoil, which tragically claimed the lives of Honourable Remi Abass, the reinstated chairman of Irewole, and others. May their souls rest in peace. In their honor, I invite everyone to stand and observe a minute of silence.
“Peace be upon all of you” the statement said.
