Rivers LG Polls : RSIEC Announces Date For Fresh Election

• Rivers Assembly Simmons RSIEC Boss Over 2024 LG Elections
The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, has scheduled 9 August 2025 for fresh Local Government Council Elections in the state.
RSIEC chairman, retired Justice Adolphus Enebeli, announced the date during a stakeholders’ meeting and the official unveiling of the 2025 Local Government Elections timetable and guidelines at the commission’s headquarters on Aba Road, Port Harcourt, on Wednesday.
Addressing stakeholders, Justice Enebeli reaffirmed RSIEC’s commitment to conducting a free, fair, credible, and impartial election, urging political parties to adhere to the rules.

In another vein, the Rivers State House of Assembly on its Wednesday plenary summoned the Chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, Justice Adolphus Enebeli (retd.), to appear before it within 48 hours regarding the conduct of the 2024 local government elections.

The plenary, presided over by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, the House warned that failure to comply with the summons would result in the issuance of an arrest warrant against the RSIEC Chairman.
