Owalare Inaugurates Planing Committee For April 19 Osu-Oja 2025

The 2025 Osu-Oja Festival, Ilare, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State will hold on 19th April, 2025, the Owalare of Ilare, Oba Adejoro Otebolaku JP, Ogidan III has declared.

The Owalare, through his spokesperson, Chief (Dr.) Tope Abiola, the Odole-Owa of Ilare, who is also the Chairman of the Planing Committee, in a press release said a committee had been put in place by the monarch to organise the festival to make it a funfair celebration.

Osu-Oja is a bi-annual celebration which involves prayers for inhabitants of the town by the monarch.

It is a celebration which brings all the Eka-Osuns (Igigun, Ipepeji, Iloja, Igbo Iloyi-Ajeoku, Okeogun and Iketewi) together to celebrate their unity and remind them of their ancestral migration from Ile-Ife.

The festival heralds the planting of farm crops in the town which is the prodominant occupation of the people.

During the celebration, just like the Olojo festival in Ile-Ife, the Owalare, in company with his Eka-Osuns and chiefs, will move round different quarters in the town for special prayers offered for indigenes of the town, both home and abroad, for peace, good health, progress and prosperity.

On the grand finale day of the celebration, the Kabiyesi wears the Ade Are round the town for the special prayers.

Ade Are is the traditional beaded crown brought by the progenitor of Ilare, Ajalorun-Oro, from Ile-Ife.

In order to have a fun-filled celebration this year, the following members have been put in place by Kabiyesi: Odole Tope Abiola, who is the Chief Curator of the Festival, Chairman; Chief Leisu Adetayo Adeyemi, Messers Adeniji Famojuro, Raphael Akintayo Adejumo, Adebisi Adeyemi, Adio Adepeju, Adegboye Alare, Sola Aworinde, Muyiwa Adewale, Mrs. Aderemi Ojo, Folasayo Adejumo and High Chief Oluremi Idowu Fatimilehin, the Obaala of Ilare.
