LG Polls: PDP Candidate, Afolabi Assures Farmers Of Boosting Agriculture In Ede South

• Promises enhanced development for rural communities to boost agriculture

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chairmanship candidate in the forthcoming February 22 election for Ede South Local Government Area of Osun State, Hon. Lukman Afolabi ( Abere Soose) has said agriculture would be his main focus if elected into office.

Afolabi made this pronouncement on Thursday during his campaign at Loogun Ward 08 of Ede.

Addressing his supporters, Afolabi said “I was amazed by the vast uncultivated arable land in the local government area, such endowment is enough to pull the people out of poverty.

“Boosting agriculture remains one of my cardinal objectives and I will go the whole hog to support farmers through the provision of high-yielding seedlings and modern farming technology” he said.

Speaking on his plans to give required support to farmers of the council area, the PDP candidate said “Apart from giving support to farmers, we will ensure that as a matter of priority, the lives of the people are properly secured.”

He revealed that his first project to be embarked on if elected would be to provide motorable roads and potable water for residents of all communities he has visited.

He stressed that rural dwellers will have direct contact with their representatives, leading to unprecedented development just as he assured residents of Loogun that he would prioritize their well-being in terms of security, empowerment, health, education, and agriculture.

He expressed his satisfaction with the turnout of residents of Loogun Ward emphasizing that rural residents will benefit the most from his administration.

The former Osun ALGON secretary highlighted Governor Ademola Adeleke’s effort in providing infrastructure, which includes roads, solar street lights, boreholes, schools, and health facilities in his two years in office.

He urged them to continue to support and pray for the Governor Adeleke-led administration for continuous infrastructural development and economic growth of the state.

In his remarks Ede South PDP party chairman, Hon. Ademola Oyebode commended the party chairmanship candidate for taking on the campaign task and duties on his own.

He also expressed confidence that all the PDP’s councillorship candidates of the council area if they are elected will work together with the party to deliver on their campaign promises.
