Osun Poly ASUP Gives Fresh 14-day Ultimatum To Oyetola, Insists On Industrial Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, chapter has issued another 14-day ultimatum to Governor Gboyega Oyetola led Osun Government to fulfill its promise with the union.

Blaze Newz gathered that the Union had earlier issued a 7-day ultimatum to Governor Oyetola in order to enable his government to scale up Tertiary Institutions Salary Table to 100% and 65 Years Retirement Age Law for Academic Staff of Osun State-Owned Tertiary Institutions.

The Osun poly ASUP during its Congress held yesterday, at the Union’s Secretariat, Iree, Boripe Local Government area of state, declared that industrial strike will be the next option for its members if the government don’t fulfill their promise.

Blaze Newz learnt that the Union on Monday February 21, 2022 and the Osun State Government, through the Office of the Head of Service, Dr. Olowogboyega Oyebade that comprise of the unions in all state institutions received an agreement to settle demands of the union.

According to a reliable source said the ASUP would have been on strike by now if not because of the meeting it held with the government representative after the 7-day ultimatum issued earlier elapsed.

The source added that the congress gave Governor Oyetola additional two weeks to fulfill all the promises, noting that they arrived on issuing another 14-day due to the ongoing discussion with the government.

He further said, the Union demanded from Osun Government to scale up Tertiary Institutions Salary Table to 100% , and payment 29 half salary arrears among others .
