Calabar Lions Club To Drill Two Boleholes, Provide Free Medical Services



The International Association of Lions Clubs, Calabar Golden Lions Club and Calabar Golden Leo Club District 404A2, Nigeria has installed Pharmacist (Pharm) Embiet Bassey NLCF as the 7th/1st male President and board of Directors for 2019/2020 service year

Installing the Pharmacist Bassey and other board of directors, the District Governor, District 404A2 Nigeria, Lion Nsikan Bassey called on the newly installed President and the board of directors to take up the mantle of the club and work assiduously with a view to achieving maximal results.

“May I enjoin you to put to optimal use, your experience over the years as a lion and the knowledge garnered during your RLLI training program which was very impactful, ensuring that you remain focused on sustaining the ideals of our great association in all your clubs’ activities.

“Over the years, we have celebrated successes recorded in the course of our service to humanity, but be reminded that there is still so much we can achieve. In the current fiscal year, Lions have been challenged by President Jung-Yul Choi to create harmony through service by developing effectively the Global Action Service Framework.

“To achieve this, I charge you and all the members of your club to be knights of service ensuring that everyone who is truly in need is served. I believe that the leadership skills you have acquired and will still acquire this service year, together with the human resources that abound in your club, will be deployed to ensure the communities within the bounds of your local community are impacted positively” he stated.

In his acceptance speech, Pharm Baasey said “As a club, we have decided to do the following projects, drilling of two boreholes with complete stand (3000 litres tank) at Anantigha, Calabar South and Ikot Otu Namso in Eneyo ward in Akpabuyo, free medical health services on Diabetics, hypertension, malaria, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, counselling and treatment/management.

Other projects according to Pharm Embiet are donation of 20 hospital mattresses and bed at IDH, donation of educational materials to primary schools and payment of hospital bills for paediatric cancer patients at UCTH, Calabar.

He said that the purpose of human life should be to serve, to show compassion to those who suffer in life and the passionate will to help those who are in need. Humanity is our Race, love for the less privileged is our religion”. The installation featured fund raisings and free medical test.
