Ijeda-born politician, Osundokun Osundare, has officially declared his intention to contest for the seat of Oriade State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The declaration, made on Monday, September 22, 2025, was greeted with excitement among supporters and party stakeholders across the constituency.

Osundare, fondly called Dokun, said his ambition is rooted in service, vision, and a firm belief in God Almighty. He described his aspiration as a mission to give the people of Oriade a louder and more impactful voice in governance. According to him, his candidacy is not about personal ambition alone but about advancing the collective dreams of Oriade people.

Since July 2025, Osundare has embarked on extensive consultations across all towns and villages in Oriade Local Government. From Erinmo to Ijeda, Ijebu-Jesa to Ipetu-Ijesa, Ikeji-Arakeji to Iwaraja, and other communities, he has met with traditional rulers, community leaders, artisans, traders, teachers, youths, and women groups. He emphasized that these interactions deepened his understanding of the people’s struggles, expectations, and hopes for a better future.

Osundare made it clear that his declaration is closely tied to the re-election of Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke. He praised the Governor as the best-performing leader in Osun since the return of democracy in 1999, citing achievements in education, infrastructure, welfare, and people-oriented governance. He insisted that Governor Adeleke’s second term is non-negotiable for the progress of both Osun State and Oriade constituency.

“My ambition is tied to a bigger dream—the re-election of Governor Adeleke. Without his second term, our hopes in Oriade will be limited. His victory is our collective victory,” Osundare declared, calling on all PDP members and progressive-minded citizens in Oriade to unite behind the Governor in the forthcoming polls.

Highlighting his legislative agenda, Osundare promised to be a proactive and people-focused lawmaker. He vowed not to be a benchwarmer in the House of Assembly, pledging instead to sponsor bills that will directly address the daily struggles of the people. He listed youth empowerment, women inclusion, healthcare delivery, education, and infrastructural development as his top priorities if elected.

The aspirant also assured constituents of accountability, accessibility, and loyalty, stressing that his representation will be rooted in transparency and service. “I am a son of this soil, and I will remain committed to my people. I will not betray your trust; I will uphold my mandate with integrity,” he affirmed.

Osundare ended his declaration with a rallying call for unity and collective action. “Together, let us rise. Together, let us stand. Together, let us win. With Adeleke we rise, with Dokun we shine,” he said, while expressing confidence that with Governor Adeleke’s re-election, Oriade will experience unprecedented progress.
