Meta Introduces Teen Accounts on Facebook

Meta Platforms, Inc. has introduced a new safety feature on Facebook designed to provide stronger protection for teenage users.
The update, called “Teen Accounts,” enables adolescents to access the platform with tighter parental supervision and limited content exposure.
According to a statement released on Thursday, millions of teenagers are already using the new safety setting.
“We’ve transitioned hundreds of millions of young users into Teen Accounts across Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger, and we’re now extending the feature worldwide on Facebook and Messenger,” Meta announced.
The company added that these restrictions cannot be lifted without parental approval.
The feature, which first launched on Instagram in 2024, applies to users aged 13 to 17.
