The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has commended China for its growing support to Nigeria in the fight against insecurity, describing the partnership as already producing positive results.

Obasa made the remarks during the celebration of the 76th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos, noting that Nigeria has greatly benefited from the bilateral relationship between the two nations.

According to him, China’s assistance in military training and the local production of arms has significantly boosted Nigeria’s security efforts, with ripple effects also being felt in other African countries.

He explained that the upgraded military partnership between both nations—anchored on arms production and training—has strengthened Nigeria’s fight against insecurity while opening new opportunities for security collaboration across Africa.

The Lagos Speaker also highlighted China’s continued investments in Lagos State, particularly in infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, and rail systems, which he said have transformed the state’s economy and enriched lives.

Quoting the outcomes of a recent meeting between President Xi Jinping of China and President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria, Obasa said both leaders agreed to strengthen cooperation as major developing countries and emerging economies.

He stressed that the renewed partnership between Nigeria and China represents a new chapter that will not only enhance bilateral ties but also drive broader China-Africa relations in the years ahead.
