Says Tinubu needs our votes in 2027

As the withheld of local governmet allocations of Osun state by the Federal Government enters half of 2025, the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun, has joined the voices of concerned citizens to plead for the release of the funds.

Oba Olanipekun, who lamented the negative impact of the withheld allocations on governance at the local governments said he is also affected as a traditional ruler.

Ataoja made this known while addressing traditionalists and other guests who attended the 2025 Osun-Osogbo festival on Friday.

The monarch, who insisted that the local government allocations withheld are Osun’s rightful money, urged that it should be released to Governor Ademola Adeleke.

He revealed that some monarchs had approached him on the need for royal intervention but said he could not forward on it because he is expecting action from leader of Osun monarchs.

Meanwhile, the monarch, without mentioning names, called on traditional rulers in Osun State, whose subjects hold key positions in the government, to convene and collaborate on a solution to resolve the issue of the withheld allocations.

According to Ataoja, “I own the SSG, someone owns the Chief of Staff and governor and another person owns the deputy governor let’s all of them call their fathers (kings) together, let us go to Abuja and see what I will say when we get there.”

Speaking on the needs for the President Tinubu led-federal government to maintain good relationships with the people of Osun ahead of 2027 presidential election, Ataoja said, “They need our votes, Osun can’t be commonized , whosoever is there on the day of Atupa Olokun merindinlogun (lamp of sixteen eyes) I said Osogbo has sent me to President Tinubu that we have given him Osun state votes, why is he afraid, give us our money.

“Those of you at the helm of affairs of talking to Tinubu, tell the President of Nigeria to give us our money that they are owing us” he added.

Blaze Newz gathered that Osun local government allocations had not been released by the federal government since February of this year.
