‘Echoes of My Journey’ author, Ajadosu charges journalists to maintain ethics of journalism

As citizens continue to battle with widespread of hunger caused by hike of food prices, the Olofin of Orubu in Atakumosa East Local Government Area of Osun state, Oba Dr Francis Olabanji Lucas, urged Nigerian government to incorporate agriculture into General Studies (GNS) curriculum for students at higher institutions to learn farming.

The Royal father made this appeal while granting interview to newsmen on Wednesday at the NUJ Centre, Osogbo during a book launching authored by Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu.

Oba Lucas maintained that for Nigeria to return to the glory days of abundant food, students at higher institutions across the country must be given standard education on farming.

According to the monarch, “In the university we do GNS (General Studies) agriculture should be part of it, it’s our culture.

“Farming is a great occupation , we should all learn from our forefathers.
Nigeria was built mainly on Cocoa revenue, we should all go back to farm.”

While speaking on one of the courses that led Nigeria into food shortage , Oba Lucas said, “The situation on security is the one that leads to the problem of food shortage and scarcity. Majority of our farmers are being threaten in going to the farm.”

He, however, urged government to work with traditional rulers and other stakeholders to combat food shortage just as he tasked that youth interested in farming should be empowered.

Speaking on his autobiography “Echoes of My Journey” Comrade Ajadosu, urged journalists in the state to adhere to ethics of journalism in their day to day reportages.

He also emphasized on the need not to be partisan in their dealing with politicians, urged that all political parties should be given equal opportunities on their platform.

Ajadosu further explained that his book will serve as guiding compass for whosoever will succeed him as Chairman of NUJ, Osun council.

“This is my second book and I wish to write more” Ajadosu said.
