NNL Super 8: Govt Intervention On Osun United Sparks Hope For Promotion

The Osun State Deputy Governor and Commissioner for Sports, Prince Kola Adeyeye, has met with Osun United after the team’s qualification for the Nigeria
National League Super 8.
The Deputy Governor also used the opportunity to meet the team’s management, coaches, players, and supporters to pledge his support.

Addressing the team, Kola promised to provide top-notch welfare for the players and fast-track any administrative bottlenecks affecting their emoluments.

During his address, Osun State Governor, Sen. Dr. Ademola Adeleke, phoned in to congratulate the team on their Super 8 qualification. He encouraged the players to make the state proud by securing a spot in the Nigeria’s Apex League.
The Governor’s message was well-received by the team and stakeholders, boosting their morale and motivation.
The House Committee Chairman on Sports, Hon. Abiola Awoyeye, also attended the meeting and promised to use his legislative privilege to foster developments in Osun sports. He assured the team that he would be present in Asaba to cheer them on as they aim for promotion.
The team’s captain, Mojeed, and the supporters’ club expressed their gratitude to the government for the timely intervention and promised to put up a better performance in Asaba.
Club Chairman, Gbenga Ololade Oriowo, also capped it all by appreciating the government thus far, he assured that the government intervention is already a big boost to United as they aim to do the state proud.

The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, Hon. Kola Awoyeye, SSA on Football Matters, Hon. Keinde Johnson, and top officials from the Ministry of Sports and Osun State Sports Council.
The management, coaches, players, and supporters of Osun United were also present, demonstrating a united front as the team prepares for the promotional playoff. The Nigeria National League Super 8 is billed to take place in Asaba from 5-12th, July 2025.
