Adeleke’s Visit To Tinubu A Sign Of Political Maturity, Regional Unity – Group

The recent visit of Governor Ademola Adeleke to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been described as a welcome show of maturity, respect, and commitment to regional unity, despite party differences.
The visit, which took place in Abuja, has demonstrated that governance and development must be placed above political affiliations. As Osun is one of the core Yoruba-speaking states, the move is a step in the right direction toward strengthening Southwest solidarity and collaboration.

It is also commendable that President Tinubu received Governor Adeleke warmly, proving once again that he is a father to all; regardless of political leanings. His open-door leadership style reflects true statesmanship and a dedication to national unity.
However, it is unfortunate that some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have chosen to criticize the President over this visit. This condemnation is not only unnecessary but harmful to the spirit of unity and cooperation that the moment represents. Political differences must never become a barrier to constructive engagement, especially when it involves national and regional development.
Also, we find the comment credited to the former Speaker of the Osun House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye , suggesting that “Osun APC ticket is not for sale” to be uncalled for. President Tinubu did not indicate any such intent, and the comment does a disservice to the dignity of the Presidency. The President’s action was purely a demonstration of leadership, not a political negotiation.
We urge all well-meaning Nigerians, especially leaders within the Southwest, to promote unity and maturity in public discourse. Nigeria needs less division and more bridges across party lines if we are to move forward.
