Eid El-kabir: NAWOJ Celebrates With Osun Residents, Calls For Unity, Sacrifice, Compassion

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Osun State Chapter has extend heartfelt felicitations to all Muslims in the state and across Nigeria on the joyous occasion of Eid el-Kabir.
The association which celebrated Muslim residents in Osun joined millions around the world in celebrating the Eid-el Kabir festival, recognising the spiritual depth, cultural richness, and communal harmony that it represents.
In the release signed by the Chairperson, Comrade Abisola Ariwodola and Secretary Oluwaranti Ojewumi, Eid el-Kabir, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” shows a time of deep reflection, sacrifice, and devotion to the will of Almighty Allah and a period that reminds us of the values of obedience, charity, patience, and unwavering faith.

In this season, Osun NAWOJ called on residents of the state, particularly women, including members of the association to embrace the essence of the celebration by fostering love, tolerance, and unity within their communities and professional circles.
The association emphasised the need for collective responsibility in upholding truth, justice, and social cohesion values that are in line with the teachings of Eid el-Kabir, and uses the occasion to appreciate the efforts of women journalists who continue to work tirelessly despite socio-economic challenges to ensure the voices of the vulnerable are heard, and truth is upheld in the media space.
Osun NAWOJ which applauded the government of Governor Ademola Adeleke for providing enabling environment for citizens of the state, also urged the government, its officials, media proprietors, and stakeholders to show more commitment to improving the welfare of journalists, especially women, who often face unique challenges in the course of their duties, adding that priority should be made of policies that protect the rights, welfare, and dignity of women and children.

The female journalists association in Osun state also encouraged its members and residents to use this period not only for celebration but also for outreach, by extending hand of generosity to the less privileged, widows, internally displaced persons, and other vulnerable groups within their communities.
In conclusion, NAWOJ Osun chapter prays for peace prosperity, and continuous strength for the people, and also pray God guide our decisions and relationships as we build a more just, inclusive, and humane society.
