Defections : 10 PDP Governors, Wike, Saraki Attend Closed-Door Meeting In Abuja

Ten Governors elected on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday hosted extended meeting former governors and other stakeholders of the party in Abuja.

The meeting at Bauchi State Governor’s Lodge had in attendance former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike and Acting National Chairman, Amb Ilias Damagun

The governors also summoned members of the Board of Trustees and former presiding officers of the National Assembly.

At end of the meeting, the Former announced the formation of a strategic seven-man committee aimed at resolving internal party challenges and preparing for key upcoming events.

According to Saraki, featured robust deliberations on the current challenges facing the party and laid out plans for a more cohesive future.

One of the major outcomes was the establishment of a committee tasked with ensuring a rancour-free National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for May 27, 2025, as well as a smooth national convention thereafter.

Saraki, who will head the committee would be working alongside Governors Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), Caleb Muftwang (Plateau), and Peter Mba (Enugu). Other members include Senators Seriake Dickson and Ibrahim Dankwambo, and former Abia State Governor, Chief Okezie Ikpeazu.

“We hope to do our best in delivering on the assignment given to us,” Saraki stated, reaffirming the group’s commitment to party unity and effective leadership.

Governors present are; Senator Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Agbu Kefas (Taraba), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), Ademola Adeleke, (Osun), Pastor Umo Eno(Akwa Ibom), Dr. Mbah (Enugu State), Barr. Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Seyi Makinde ( Oyo) and Senator Lawrence Ewuhrudjakpo (Deputy Governor Bayelsa State).

Former governors at the meeting include Dr. Sam Egwu, Sen. Liyel Imoke, Sen. Dickson, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Sen. Ahmed Makarfi, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, Dr. Samuel Orton, Adamu Muazu, Dr. Achike Udenwa, Jonah Hang, Muazu Babangida Aliyu, Udom Emmanuel, Gabriel Suswam, Senator Aminu Tambuwal, Dr. Ibrahim Shekarau, Nyesom Wike and Dr. bukola Saraki.
