Omoyele Receives Chieftaincy Title of Onijegun on Merit — Oba Sefiu Olawale Oyebola

In a grand ceremony that gathered dignitaries from across the Southwest and beyond, the Aseyin of Iseyin, His Royal Majesty Oba Sefiu Olawale Oyebola Adeyeri III, on Saturday, bestowed the prestigious chieftaincy title of Onijegun of Ijegun Community in Iseyin upon Dr. Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, the serving Corps Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps.

Speaking at the occasion, Oba Adeyeri emphasized that the chieftaincy title was conferred strictly on merit, in recognition of Omoyele’s numerous contributions to community development, his outstanding service in the security sector, and his passion for humanity.

According to the monarch, the decision followed a year-long observation and evaluation of Omoyele’s leadership, integrity, and impact.

“We have been closely monitoring the activities of Dr. Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele for the past one year,” Oba Adeyeri stated.

“After a thorough assessment, it was clear that he is not only deserving but also the rightful heir to this historic title. His forefathers once held this position, and he has proven through his deeds that he is worthy of continuing their legacy.”

The revered monarch described Omoyele as a leader with humility, who carries everyone along regardless of social status. He urged the newly installed chief to leverage his extensive network and experience to attract meaningful development to Ijegun and Iseyin at large.

Oba Adeyeri also extended his appreciation to the Governor of Osun State, His Excellency Asiwaju Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, for recognizing Omoyele’s competence and giving him the opportunity to serve as the Corps Commander of Osun Amotekun. He commended Omoyele for his relentless efforts in strengthening grassroots security across Osun State.

In his acceptance speech, Chief Dr. Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele expressed profound gratitude to the Aseyin of Iseyinland, the Council of Chiefs, and the entire Ijegun community for the honor.

“This title means a lot to me, and I accept it with deep humility and a strong commitment to serve,” he said. “I will not take this responsibility lightly, and I promise to uphold the values of this title while contributing positively to the growth and security of our people.”

The chieftaincy installation ceremony was graced by a high-profile array of guests, including royal fathers such as the Olobu of Ilobu, HRM Oba Ashiru Tadese; the Ileogbo of Ileogbo; members of the Ode-Omu and Olufi of Gbongan royal councils; HRM Oba Saheed Ifatola, Alade Okin; and the Alado of Ilado.

Also in attendance were business tycoons, top government functionaries including commissioners, special advisers, and senior special assistants, members of the Osun State House of Assembly, as well as the management and senior leadership of the Osun Amotekun Corps.

The event was not just a celebration of heritage and tradition, but also a reaffirmation of the power of service, leadership, and merit in modern Nigerian society.
