Troops Apprehend Wanted Bandits, Military Imposter

Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade/Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke have arrested a wanted bandit and a military impersonator in Taraba State.
The arrests were said to have been made under Operation LAFIYAN JAMAA, following credible intelligence provided by local residents.
Captain Oni Olubodunde, Acting spokesperson for the Brigade, in a statement on Friday said the troops also recovered a cache of arms and ammunition.
“These operations are part of our continued efforts to rid Taraba State of criminal elements. We appreciate the cooperation of good Samaritans who have continued to support us with timely information,” Olubodunde said.
“On April 16, soldiers responded to a distress call from a local hunter and raided a suspected bandit camp at Dutsen Kachalla in the Lainde area of Lau Local Government.
Although the suspects fled into nearby mountains, the troops recovered a rifle butt, an AK-47 magazine, a military headgear, and an identification card belonging to one Adamu Umaru Jauro.”
Further intelligence, according to the statement, led to the arrest of Yusuf Hammadu, also known as “Dogo,” on April 19 in Lainde Jessy, Lau LGA. Hammadu had long been on the radar of security agencies for his alleged involvement in violent crimes in the region.
The Army reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and security in Taraba and urged the public to remain vigilant and continue sharing useful information with security forces.
