2024 Ede Day Planning C’ttee Discloses Available Fund, Sets To Commence Rehabilitation Work On Ede City Hall

Chairman of the Central Planning Committee for the 2024 Ede Day, Hon. Lukman Afolabi, has disclosed that rehabilitation work on the Ede City Hall at Oja Timi will commence soon.

Afolabi made this disclosure at a general meeting held inside the town hall on Sunday.

Blaze Newz recalls that during a get-together of all the planning committees of the 2024 Ede Day held at Western Sun, Afolabi enjoined all members to continue to participate in post activities of the 2024 Ede Day to achieve the completion of the hall, saying all committees remain undissolved.

Addressing the gathering, Afolabi appreciated their presence and expressed the readiness to inform the general public of the commencement of the rehabilitation of the Ede City Hall.

According to Afolabi “We are meeting the Federal Council of Ede Descendant Union on the 28th of this month to inform them about our readiness to start this project from the funds we have gathered; we will also discuss with them the proposal of the committee on the rehabilitation of the city hall.

“My people, we have close to N150 million now, we will be supporting the construction of the palace with a sum of 10 million naira, while the rest will go for the rehabilitation of this town hall.

“We will set up a committee that will work with the workers, they will supervise and we are going to fund it… I’m not going to drop the account for anyone, the money will be spent only for its purpose”, Afolabi added.

Also, the Secretary of the Central Planning Committee, Dr. Nurein Lawal, stressed the importance of calling the meeting, saying it’s time to let the people know the situation of things on the ground.

The Chairman of the Ede Muslim Council, Dr Musibaudeen Idris, also advised the committee to work with the technocrats on the field to bring a good result.

Different suggestions are made by the members to bring engineers, builders, and quantity surveyors to come and view the hall to know what to be done in due time

Comrade Imran Majeed, in his comment about the time frame for the completion of the work, said people are waiting for our results, and they want to see what we will bring out differently on the issue of the town hall; we must finish all the work before this coming Ileya festival.

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Security Committee, the Chairman of the publicity committee, the chairperson of entertainment, the chairperson of mobilization, members of the central planning committee, the chairman of the Christian association, the chairman of the Muslim community, and member of the press.
