Lagos Assembly Crisis : Tinubu Wades In, Urges Lawmakers To Allow Obasa To Work

President Bola Tinubu has implored members of Lagos State House of Assembly to allow Rt. Hon Mudashiru Obasa to work effectively as Speaker.
Tinubu reportedly made this call on Wednesday during a meeting with Lagos Lawmakers at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
A credible source at the Villa said the President overruled Chief Bisi Akande led panel, noting that Obasa would no longer resign as Speaker.
Recall that the reconciliation panel comprising Chief Bisi Akande, Aremo Olusegun Osoba and Governance Advisory Council members recommended resignation of Hon Mojisola Meranda to pave way for Obasa’s reinstatement.
They also advise the embattled Speaker to resign and allow fresh Speaker to emerge from Lagos West Senatorial district.

However, Obasa who is representing Agege Constituency 1 refused to resign inline with the agreement before his reinstatement on March 3, 2025.
According to the Punch Newspaper, The President told the lawmakers to allow Obasa to work, and Obasa should also withdraw the case against Meranda and the lawmakers in court. The lawmakers have agreed to this.
