2026 : Appeal Court Claim By Osun APC On Sacked LG Officials Was To Rise Morale of Members – Igbimo Agba Sources

Sources within the Osun APC Elders Caucus (Igbimo Agba) have revealed that claim by the Osun All Progressives Congress,APC, on the Akure appeal court judgement on the purpoted council officials sacked by a Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo was merely to rise morale of their members ahead 2026 gubernatorial election.
The sources explain that during a meeting held at residence of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola,on Saturday , they “leaders” were told why the party to stick to its narrative on the appeal court ruling even when there is no evidence to back it up.
According to the sources “A party chief who is a lawyer told the meeting that the Akure judgement did not reinstate the sacked council chairmen and cautioned against likely negative consequences of sticking to false narratives.
“He told the meeting that the entire judgement has nothing to back up the claim of the party. He actually called our attention to serious consequences on the party and even on the person of the party leader, Mr Oyetola. He went further to analyse the issues.

“It was at that point that one of our leaders took the microphone to explain the strategy behind the party position. He was very blunt and direct. In his words, the whole show was a mind game.
“We are doing all these to raise the hope of our party men and women. We noticed the party was almost dead and we needed something to wake the spirit of our supporters. That is why we promote this narration.
“We know we cannot forcefully take over the councils. We know the legal process. But we have succeeded in waking up our members. We have put fears into the ruling party. We have given them sleepless nights. So we lied for political reasons.
“And we must keep it up. We must move ahead with our narrative. By that we keep our party alive and kicking”, the party chief was quoted as saying at the meeting.

“After the briefing by the said leader, our reporter was told that a party chief urged the leaders to handle the matter with care so that it won’t backfire.
“He cautioned us. He specifically asked what the leaders would do if and when members found out that they were lied to.”, our source reported.
“The meeting later resolved to uphold the narration but with a caution on leaders to embark on confidential briefing for local party leaders.
“Simply, we were told to go and continue to lie to our people”, the source said.
Meanwhile, at a press conference where Chairman of Osun APC Elders’ Caucus, Engr. Sola Akinwumi, addresses newsmen after they concluded their indoor meeting he said efforts were in top gear to enforce the Appeal Court’s judgment and return the illegally sacked local government officials in full compliance with the law.

“We are in full gear in preparation for the 2026 governorship election. We are going to implement the judgment we had just obtained from the Court of Appeal on local government. We are law-abiding citizens and we always keep to what the law says and we will comply strictly to what the judgment interprets.

“My advice for the party members is to maintain regular position and not mingling within people here and there. They should be focused and resolute. We are coming back in full force in 2026.
