Oba Adesola Lawal Laminisa 1, Timi Of Edeland, A Blend Of Royalty And Humility, Turns 70, By Chief Dr Ayodele Adeyemo

The Timi of Ede, His Royal Majesty Oba Dr Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, Laminisa 1 turns 70 years on February 10, 2025. The journey of Oba Adesola Lawal started modestly on February 10, 1955. He was born to the family of Prince (Alhaji) Kareem Abefe of Laminisa Ruling House, Pere Compound, and Alhaja Abibat Akanke Lawal from Ile Imole compound in Ede, Osun State, Nigeria.

An academic of repute and author, Oba Dr Adesola Lawal’s educational journey started at L. A. Primary School, Obada, Ede in 1960. He attended Baptist High School Ede for his secondary school education. Thereafter, he proceeded to Ogbomoso Grammar School for Higher School Certificate (HSC). His quest for knowledge took him to Adeyemi College of Education and later Bayero University, Kano (1981-1984) where he obtained a first degree in Mathematics/Library Science. Also, he won academic distinction of the Federal Government of Nigeria in 1983.

As a man with mission and vision for academic excellence, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal was at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) for a Masters degree in Business Administration and also Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso (1993-1994) for Diploma in Computer Science. Oba Dr Munirudeen Adesola Lawal’s intimidating academic laurels include Professional Advanced Diploma in Production and Operations Management (2002-2004), Masters in Public Health from College of Medicine, University of Ibadan (2004) while he capped it with Master of Science Technology in 2007 from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.

Before he ascended to the highly historic throne of his forefathers as the Timi Agbale Olofana of Ede city, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal had a chequered teaching career working as a classroom teacher at various secondary schools which include:Timi Agbale Grammar School, Ede (1975-1977), Baptist High School Ede (1984-1988), Moremi High School, Ile Ife (1988-1990), and Oba Laoye Grammar School, Ede (1990-1993). Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal thereafter joined the services of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree as Lecturer III in 1993 and rose to the level of Senior Principal Lecturer in 2005, a post he held until January 18, 2008 when he ascended the exalted throne of Timi of Edeland.

Oba Dr Adesola Lawal is a renowned author and great scholar. He has published 10 books and contributed some 22 well researched articles in reputable academic journals and conferences. His areas of academic interests include Business Statistics, Qualitative Analysis for Management Studies and Further Mathematics for Schools and Colleges.etc

As a distinguished administrator, Oba Lawal served variously as Head of Department and, Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies at Osun State Polytechnic, Iree. He is also a member of many professional bodies which include:
Fellow, Certified Institute of Public Administration of England and Wales (FCIPA)
Honorary Member, Rotary Club of Ede
Patron, Red Cross of Nigeria
2010 Fellowship Award of the Federal Polytechnic, EdeEl
Member, Ede Country Club

Since January 18, 2008 when Oba Dr Munirudeen Adesola Lawal Laminisa 1, became the Timi Agbale Olofana of Edeland, the ancient cosmopolitan town and all its vassal towns have witnessed unprecedented transformations in social, physical and infrastructural metamorphosis.

In the area of education, apart from the Federal Polytechnic Ede which had been in existence before Kabiyesi ascendency, in less than two decades of ascending the throne, Ede has been blessed with more tertiary institutions which include Redeemer University and Adeleke University, who are all of world standard.

Others include Premier College of Education, and many other private and public Secondary schools. The recent dualisation of Akoda -Oke Gada-Ido Osun -Osogbo Road by the current development-oriented government of His Excellency, Senator Dr Nurudeen Ademola Jackson Adeleke, Governor Osun State has transformed the sprawling Ede city and its environs to a comparable world clas standard.

Oba Dr Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, Laminisa 1, Timi of Edeland thanks Almighty Allah for the grace of celebrating his Platinum Birthday. He also wishes that God will grant him many more years in good health, uncommon wisdom and solid strength to serve Allah and the people of Ede that he has been destined to lead.
