Osun Lawmaker, Oke Condemns Esa Oke Killings, Urges Residents To Remain Calm

• Calls For immediate release of individuals unjustly detained

Lawmaker representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, Oluwole Oke, has urged residents of Esa Oke to remain calm, seek redress on disputes through lawful channels saying “Violence or self-help is never an option.”

Blaze Newz gathered that the recent appointment of Prince Timileyin Oluyemi Ajayi, as new Olojudo of Ido Ayegunle by Osun State Government resulted to the violence between the town and Esa Oke .

Oke, who is the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs commended security operatives for their swift intervention that stopped further escalation of the Monday violence that led to killings and destruction of properties.

In a press release ,on Tuesday, through its Public and Media Communication Unit, the lawmaker said “We owe gratitude to our security agencies for their prompt and decisive action.

He condemned the senseless killings, saying, “The same blood flows in all of us. Violence is never justified, as a community and a large family, we must stop this senseless violence.”

While calling for the prosecution of perpetrators under the law, Oke said impartial investigation into both the immediate and underlying causes of the incident should be constituted saying, “Justice must prevail for the victims and their families.” he asserted.

“I share in their grief. These losses are monumental for Esa-Oke and Osun State.” he shared his condolences to bereaved families.

He urged for calm and restraint, emphasizing the need for peace while awaiting decisive government action at the State and Federal levels.

He further advised aggrieved parties to adhere to lawful channels for resolving disputes. “Rather than resorting to violence, all stakeholders must follow due process in matters of chieftaincy and traditional leadership,” he said.

The lawmaker encouraged aggrieved parties to make appeals to the Governor or seek legal redress through the courts if necessary, reiterating, “Violence or self-help is never an option.”

He called for the immediate release of individuals unjustly detained during the crisis and urged authorities to provide free medical treatment for the injured.
