2027 : APC Reacts As Jonathan’s Posters Flood Kano
The All Progressives Congress, APC, has reiterated its disassociation from Team New Nigeria, TNN, a group accused of flooding Kano streets with campaign posters promoting former President Goodluck Jonathan for the 2027 elections.
The APC firmly declared that TNN is not affiliated with its party structure at any level.
Speaking on Thursday, the APC’s Deputy National Organising Secretary, Nze Chidi Duru, described the group as “amorphous” and not recognised by the party.
“They are not members of our party, and their actions validate this position,” he stated.
He added that Jonathan’s association with the APC could only be legitimate if he were a card-carrying member.

The controversy emerged five days after TNN announced plans to break away from the APC to form a new political party aimed at rescuing Nigeria from socio-economic challenges.
The group claimed to have mobilised over 26 million voters nationwide, with a robust party structure already in place.
Posters of Jonathan, bearing slogans like “The Goodluck Nigeria Needs,” appeared in prominent Kano locations such as Kofar Nasarawa and Gyadi-Gyadi.
The development has heightened speculations about Jonathan’s return to active politics. Efforts to reach his spokesman, Okechukwu Eze, for comments proved futile.
Veteran political figure and Arewa Consultative Forum member, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, expressed his view, stating that Jonathan has the right to contest.

“This is another opportunity for him to complete his tenure, as he did not fulfil his second mandate,” he remarked.
The APC remains firm in its stance, highlighting past incidents where supporters procured nomination forms for Jonathan in the 2023 elections, a move he disowned.
Duru emphasised, “Even then, the APC did not entertain such actions, and Jonathan was not granted the ticket.”
TNN’s ambitions appear serious, as they claim to be in the final stages of registering with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Their Kano harmonisation committee reportedly aims to consolidate grassroots support.
Political analysts suggest that the posters are likely part of a broader strategy to test the waters ahead of 2027.
With big names like Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, and President Bola Tinubu expected to run, the race promises to be fiercely competitive.
The APC insists that TNN’s activities are independent and outside its jurisdiction.

“If genuine members of the APC want to form an initiative within the party, they are welcome. But this is not the case with TNN,” Duru clarified.
As the political landscape evolves, the emergence of splinter groups like TNN may reflect growing discontent within established party systems.
However, whether their influence will translate into electoral success remains uncertain.
