Controversy Trails T-shirt & Face Cap Worn By Lagos Based Chief Imam During Friday Kutba

Muslims in different part of Nigeria have expressed divergent opinions over the dressing code of a Lagos based Chief Imam, Sheikh Jamiu AmiOlohun, while delivering Kutba (Jumat sermon) on Friday.

Blaze Newz gathered that Sheikh Jamiu in a video posted on his verified Facebook page was seen last week Friday delivering Kutba in western dress of a T-shirt and face cap.

This led to disposition of some of his critics that the act was childish and disrespect to the dressing code of Islamic scholars.

While others lauded brilliancy of the Imam insisting going on Munbar to deliver Khutba does not mandates a special dressing code.

Some of the reactions are below:

Mufutau Wasiu Ishola wrote “In compliance with the jumat Mimbar and it’s prestige, it’s inappropriate dressing.

“That mimbar has something very relating to Rosulullah solallahu Alaei wassalam, so he must respect it.

“His dressing isn’t bad but it can only be overlooked for someone among the followers in the congregation not the leader (Imam) of the congregation.

“And if it’s ordinary five daily prayers in a mini mosque, this may be overlooked.

“Let Imam of the medina or mekkah masjid wore this kind of outfit during prayer and see what that may escalate across the world as a result of that.”

Hajj Zait wrote “I don’t think this need to go beyond is just a matter of childish attitude despite the fact that he met himself at elder chambers all he need is to behave like an elderly person instead of being childish, cos appearance always show manner if his not caution to this he will do something worse than this.”
