Ex-Amotekun Commander, General Adewinbi Endorses 2024 Ede Day

• Commends Planning Committee For Innovative approach

As the celebration of Ede Day, a cultural heritage of the Ede people continued to gather momentum, dignitaries from all walks of life at home and in diaspora are showing keen interest to grace the event, the immediate past Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, Brigadier General Basir Adewinbi (retired), has also endorsed the 2024 Ede Day celebration.

The former Amotekun boss who pledged his total support and to grace the township celebration commended the Central Working Committee who paid him a visit at his office in Ede, on Monday for their innovative approach.

Addressing the Central Working Committee, Adewinbi said , ‘I thank the Timi of Edeland, my brother, the governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke for this honor, in those days I had a brother in Lagos who distributed letters everywhere, today things have changed, I commend your efforts.

“This is the first time that this type of day is happening, I never heard of this before.

“Ede is one, you have spoken well. If I don’t love Ede I will not build a house in Ede.

“I thank the committee, tell the people in Ede that I will come and support Kabiesi and Mr governor

“Congratulations in advance for the successful Ede Day 2024” General Adewinbi concluded.

Speaking, Chairman of the Central Working Committee, Hon. Lukman Afolabi, applauded General Adewinbi for his endless support to his hometown, Ede.

Afolabi recalled General Adewinbi’s financial support for Ede Day in 2018 “I remember in 2008, we wanted to do Ede Dayay youth night we invited Osupa and paid him part payments, we searched for money everywhere we got to your house even without an appointment and you gave us the balance”.

“I work with you on visual media because the special interest I have in him is beyond politics and he has been doing well to him”.

“We met Baba rolling dollar at his old age , we link Baba to His Excellency gov Isiaka Adeleke, baba said he wanted to greet Brigadier General Adewinbi and you honor him because of Ede and give him a 200k cheque”.

“I want to thank you for the special love you have for Ede, I pray that may you continue to excel even beyond your expectations.”

Afolabi added “Ede is for every one of us, let’s forget about party, You have been showing us love.Today we are here before you as one of the true son of the soil. We are here to notify you officially that Ede Day grand finale is December 7, 2024.”
