OAU Students Chase Out Ex-VC’s Representatives Over 1999 Killings
Students of the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Osun State on Monday chased out the representatives of a former Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Professor Wale Omole during a freshers orientation programme.
It was gathered that a traditional ruler, Laaroke of Wanikin, Oba ‘Kole Ojutalayo came with others to represent the foundation of the ex-vc at freshers orientation when they were chased out by students agitated over the 1999 cultist killing saga of five OAU students.
Professor Wale Omole was the VC of the institution when George Iwilade(Afrika) and four others were killed in 1999 with students alleging he had something to do with it.
On Monday, when the representatives of the ex-VC(Omole) arrived at Oduduwa Hall, the students, including the Student Union (SU) leadership, staged a protest in front of the hall echoing Aluta songs and insisting the ex-VC and his representatives lack moral standing to address any student over killing of Afrika and others in 1999.
