Man United Sack Erik ten Hag Announces His Replacement

Manchester United have sacked Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag’s two-and-a-half-year spell at Old Trafford ended on Monday after a poor start to the campaign.

The development comes after a series of poor results, with United sitting 14th in the Premier League table.

Ten Hag was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.

The 54-year-old former Ajax boss was backed by new co-owners INEOS in the summer with a contract extension until June 2026.

However, Man Utd’s underwhelming start to the new campaign has now seen the manager pay the price for their patchy form.

Manchester United statement reads “Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager. We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future”.

“Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited”.
