33rd Anniversary ;Adeleke Honors Patriotic Founding Fathers
….. Lauds them for their love and tenacity of purpose
It was a gathering of illustrious figures and luminaries at Adolak Events Hall in Osogbo, the Osun state capital to mark the 33rd anniversary cum colloquium organised by the Osun State Ministry of Regional Integration and Special Duties.
The theme of the colloquium was “The Journey So Far: Building A Strong Economy In The Face Of Current Challenges”
The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, in his keynote address appreciated the founding fathers,the living and the dead, for their courage, determination, sacrifice and strong beliefs which eventually culminated in the creation of the state.
Adeleke traced the historical background of Osun State, to the struggle that started as early the 50s in the old Oyo State.
He noted that despite the challenges being currently encountered in the Nigerian federation, his administration has recorded several achievements in different sectors like education, infrastructural development, public service reforms, empowerment of youth, timely payment of workers’ salaries among others.
Earlier,the guest speaker and Vice Chancellor, Osun State University, Prof. Odunayo Adebooye in his paper, underscored the progressive persuasion of Osun people, which has a always influence and inform the choice of its leadership.
Other discussants like Professors Mubarak Adekilekun and Adetunji Ojo, in their separate lectures, harped on Governance according to the Rule of Law , Fiscal Discipline, Youth Empowerment, Diversification of the Economy, especially in the area of agriculture which Osun has a comparative advantage in order to aid development.
The Timi of Ede land, Oba Munirudeen Adeshola Lawal in his royal message appreciated the founding fathers of Osun for their foresight, courage and selflessness.
Awards of excellence to some distinguished citizens of the state climaxed the event with Hon. J O Awofisayo, Hon. Oladosu Oladipo, Prof. Olu Aina, Dr Olu Alabi and Barr. M A Laogun publicly honoured alongside post humus awards which went the way of Late Chief Sen. Raji Adeleke, Late Sen. Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke, Late Timi of Ede, Oba Tijani Oladokun Oyewusi Agboran, Late Alh. Rasheed Igbalaye, Late Olokuku of Okuku, Oba Moses Oyinlola and Late Ataoja of Osogbo ,Oba Iyiola Oyewale Matanmi.
