Ede Day 2024: Expect Unique Annual Celebration - Planning Committee Assures Indigenes At Home And Diaspora • Unveils December 7 As Grand Finale The 2024 Ede Day Planning Committee has assured indigenes of the town at home and diaspora of a unique annual celebration. The planning committee chairman, Hon Lukman Afolabi, made this assurance known on Wednesday while unveiling names of all committee members. Afolabi, who announced December 7 as the grand finale for the 2024 Ede Day celebration noted that composition of the planning committee was not based on political sentiment or religious affiliation. He urged all members of the planning committee to ensure that they work in harmony in order to achieve a successful Ede Day. According to Afolabi " Last year we were unable to host the Ede Day due to some circumstances but this year will be unique and remarkable. "Popular Ibadan based Fuji musician, Taye Currency, will be available on the grand finale to entertain young and old" Afolabi added. Appreciating the past Ede Day organizers, the 2024 planning committee chairman sought for their experience and support towards this year's celebration. He also disclosed that with the directive from the Timi of Edeland, Oba Munirudeen Adesoji Lawal, Laminisa I, no market across Edeland shall open for trading on the 2024 Ede Day grand finale. He further disclosed that the planning committee will reel out other activities for the 2024 Ede Day celebration in due course. Also, in his short comment, Minority Leader of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Babajide Kofoworola, who was unveiled as Chairman of Contact Committee expressed delight and readiness to serve. He also appreciated the planning committee chairman for putting politics aside in efforts to work for Edeland in achieving a colorful annual celebration.

The planning committee for 2024 Ede Day annual celebration has called on Illustrious sons and daughters of Edeland at home and diaspora for partnership.

This call according to the planning committee chairman, Hon Lukman Afolabi, is to give all Illustrious sons and daughters of Edeland a sense of belonging in preparation for the upcoming Ede Day.

It would be recalled that all planning committee for this year’s Ede Day celebration was inaugurated on Wednesday at Ede Town Hall, Oja Timi and December 7 was announced as its grand finale.

Afolabi also declared that this year’s celebration will be unique in the history of Ede Day.

In a statement issued by Afolabi on Saturday, he called on Illustrious sons and daughters of Edeland who are captains of industries, successful businessmen and women, and political functionaries, among others to key into the plans for the township celebration.

He noted that the planning committee will embrace partnerships from Illustrious sons and daughters of Edeland irrespective of his/her place of residence.

He, however, urged Illustrious sons and daughters of Edeland not to support this celebration alone but to make themselves available on its grand finale.

The statement reads ” As we commence preparation for 2024 Ede Day celebration, on behalf of the planning committee I am extending hands of partnership to all Illustrious sons and daughters of Edeland across the world.

“Let’s all work together in showcasing the beautiful heritage of our hometown, Ede, to the world.

“I am assuring you that this year’s celebration will be unique and historic in the history of Ede Day.

“I equally want to use this medium to call on Illustrious sons and daughters of Edeland who are captains of industry, successful businessmen and women, professionals from different fields, and political functionaries, among others to support this annual celebration.

“Ile ni abo isimi oko, let’s all not only provide support towards the success of this year’s Ede Day celebration but make ourselves physically available on its grand finale” the statement concludes.
