Afolabi kicks off 2024 Abere Soose Under-13 Youth Cup

Seeks support for his candidature in upcoming LG election

Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for Ede South Local Government chairmanship, Hon.Lukman Afolabi has enjoined footballers participating in this year’s edition of the Abere Soose Under-13 Youth Cup tournament to develop their talent.

Afolabi made the appeal before he kicked off the tournament on Saturday at the pavillion of Ede High School.

The tournament sponsored by Afolabi was part of categories for Unique Egalitarian Championship.

Addressing the under 13 footballers, Afolabi noted that winning should be their secondary aim saying the tournament should be seen as opportunity to develop their talents.

“Last year, we organized this tournament, so it comes as no surprise that I organized a tournament to support the growth and progress of youth in our dear town, Ede.”

Speaking on importance of sports for youth, the PDP chairman flag bearer said they help to increase youth’s physical activity level and develop lifelong habits for good mental health, develop self-control, and accountability.

Afolabi, however, sought youth support for his candidature towards the February 25, 2025 local government election.

He appreciated organizer of the tournament, Coach Akin Oyedunmola for his recognition to sponsor the tournament.

He also thanked CEO of Eyiowuawi Superstores Cares, Babatunde Eyiowuawi, Alh Amodeman, and other dignitaries for being gracious hosts.
