LG Polls : Adeleke’s Ex-appointee Emerges PDP Consensus Candidate For Ede South
The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ede South has ratified the candidacy of Hon Lukman Afolabi Abere Soose as the consensus candidate for the forthcoming local government elections slated for February 25, 2025.
The party chairman, Hon Ade Oyebode, at the local level said Hon Afolabi’s affirmation was based on the party’s investigation into the matters that led to the chairmanship positions being contested.
Hon. Oyebode announced the consensus decision during the local meeting held on Thursday in Ede South Local Government Party Secteriat.
The development came after the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, held a meeting with stakeholders at the government house, Osogbo.
“We held a meeting at the party secretariat and also held a meeting with the Governor at the Government House and we concluded,” Hon. Oyebode said.
He also disclosed that the party has picked the 17th for councilorship and the 19th for chairmanship primary.
“We’re looking up to 2026 for our Governor, Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke IMOLE, to continue his administration, anybody who loves our Governor and wants the good work to continue will not pray for his downfall,” Hon Oyebode said.
The very elated, Hon. Afolabi assured members of PDP at the meeting that “Our administration will be sweeter, Hon Musa Ololade, Baba Atidade, Dr. BT Sallam, Hon Saka Oyeleke, Hon Koyejo, and Baba Deacon Amusa, all did well in the past and I promise that I’ll build more on their achievements.
“We don’t have a faction in our party, Governor Ademola Adeleke is our leader, and after this (first term) he will still do another four years by God’s grace.
“I would like to tell you that my counterpart, the former caretaker chairman of Ede East Sekona, Hon Hassan Oyelola will be the chief Administrator in Ede East Sekona.”
He thanked all party members in the local government for their endless support, just as he promised them that the opportunity given to him as consensus candidate would not be taken for granted.
Blaze Newz recalls that Hon. Afolabi along other 29 chairmen were appointed by Governor Adeleke as caretaker chairman of Ede South last year until Supreme Court ruled on local government financial autonomy that only elected chairmen should be recognized, bared governors from appointing caretaker to head local government.
