Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso Military Leaders Meet, Sign Treaties To Create Single Bank, Currency

Military leaders of Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso have on Saturday met in Niamey, capital of Niger to official sign and adopt
creation of the Confederation of Sahel States called “AES”.
The treaties adopted by the military leaders will allow the creation of an AES investment bank and a stabilization fund for immediate launch and use of a single currency.

The confederation treaty will strengthen a mutual defence pact announced last year, the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).
The alliance’s stated that its goal is to protect against possible threats of armed rebellion or external aggression by emphasizing that “any attack on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of one or more contracted parties will be considered an aggression against the other parties.”
It was gathered that Burkina Faso will host the first parliamentary session of the alliance.
They agreed that the president of the transition of Mali, Colonel Assimi GOÏTA will assume the presidency for a mandate of one year.
The signing capped the first joint summit of the leaders – Niger’s General Abdourahmane Tchiani, Burkina Faso’s Captain Ibrahim Traore, and Mali’s Colonel Assimi Goita.
