Stakeholders Trained, As Student Head Count For 2023/2024 Set To Kickstart In Osun

The Federal Ministry of Education in collaboration with Osun State Ministry of Education and SUBEB is set for the 2023/2024 edition of the annual head count otherwise known as school census in both public and private schools in the State.

To this end, a day seminar was organized for stakeholders which include enumerators, data computation and data verification personnel in preparation for the exercise.

The training which was aimed at getting the accurate data of pupils across the state had in attendance different experts from all data related offices in the state.

Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. Murtala Jimoh noted that ,the exercise will carry along every stakeholder that will be involved in the process in order to have accurate data.

He said the reports of Osun having the highest number of out of school children is untrue but the analysis cannot be queried due to the unavailability of the accurate data.

He further tasked all stakeholders involved in the training to be up and doing and ensure that the accurate data is given in any school they visit.

Also speaking the Executive Secretary, SUBEB Mr. Yahaya Bakare admonished Private schools operators to cooperate with the enumerators as there are many advantages that will come from the exercise.

Mr. Yahaya also reiterated that the collation of accurate, reliable and functional data will attract more Federal Government intervention programs to the state therefore enjoining all stakeholders involved to work hardiziously to ensure they come up with an accurate data.

In his goodwill message the Statistician General for the state Mr. Abiodun Ijidele appreciated the organizers for the inclusiveness of the statisticians in the program as this will allow more accurate data to gathered.

He said there is need for Ministries and Agencies of Government to start working together for a common goal.

Also in their Separate goodwill messages, the ANCOPPS president, Mrs. Esther Awoyemi, NAPPS chairman, Mr Loveday Ekwubiri, AMIS Chairman, Imams Jamiu Oyeleye among others,all appreciated Osun state Government for organizing the census.

They promised to work with the data officers to ensure that the state has accurate and functional data.
