Osun Assembly Summons Construction Firm Over Ongoing Road Project In Ede

The Osun State House of Assembly has summoned a construction firm, Ben-Lad Multilinks Company, to appear before the house with three days.
The assembly directed the firm to appear following an alleged breach of contract in delivering the Agodo Gaa Baba-Nla road project at Owode-Ede,in Ede North Local Government Area of the state.
A team of parliamentarian led by the Chairman, House Committee on Rural and Community Development, Hon. Elisha Odeyemi while on an inspection visit to the project expressed displeasure at the slow pace of the work given that the company had been fully mobilised for the project.
Hon. Elisha while addressing press men, said that the project which was meant to be delivered before Governor Adeleke’s one-year in Office spanned longer than expected,with just 1 km of the 2.2km road stretch.
The committee chairman who appreciated Governor Adeleke led administration for its drive to develop both rural and urban communities, used the opportunity to sound a note of warning to all contractors in the state that the Osun 8th Assembly will not condone any act capable of sabotaging Government’s efforts.
The Project Coordinator, Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project, Engr. Popoola Okediya, who also expressed dissatisfaction and dismay at the slow pace of the project, explained that the entire sum to complete the project was paid into the coffers of the company since the 13th of July, 2023, so as not to cause any delay in the execution of the project.
The Project Manager, Mr Francis Adisa ,however,explained that what accounted for the slow pace of the project execution by the company was due to some unforeseen circumstances .
While expressing remorse for the unfortunate development arising from the slowness of the project,he promised that the company will be appearing before the General Assembly by Monday, 8th of July with all necessary documents about the project’s completion.
