Eid-el-Kabir : OWMA Tasks Osun Residents During Celebration

The Osun Waste Management Agency (OWMA) has appealed to residents of the state to continue maintaining a cleaner environment as they celebrate Eid-el-Kabir on Sunday.

In a press statement issued and made available to newsmen on Saturday by the General Manager of the OWMA, Sanitarian Fatai Oladosu Oyewole, he emphasised the importance of prioritizing environmental protection before, during and after Sallah celebration.

Sanitarian Oyewole, who wished all Muslims a happy Sallah admonished residents of Osun State to respect the environment, highlighting the significant waste that would be generated and stressing the need for proper disposal.

According to the OWMA GM, “We must continue to police our environment, avoid littering our surroundings and drainages with waste, and refrain from dumping waste on road medians, open spaces and road setbacks.

“Our agency (OWMA) officials are committed to a cleaner Osun and will be on duty throughout the holiday”.

Sanitarian Oyewole emphasised the Governor Ademola Adeleke’s led administration’s commitment to a continuous campaign for a healthier, safer, cleaner and flood-free environment.

The OWMA Boss encouraged residents of Osun to avoid actions that could negatively impact the environment and to maintain safety protocols, proper waste handling, personal hygiene and environmental sanitation to prevent epidemic diseases.

“Base on the reported cases of suspected cholera in Lagos State, I want to call on the residents of Osun to always make personal hygiene as well as environment a priority and avoid drinking water of doubtful source while wishing you all Barikah de Sallah”

Sanitarian Oyewole however appreciated Governor Ademola Adeleke, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye, the Secretary to the State Government, Hon Teslim Igbalaiye, the State Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, Hon Mayowa Adejorin, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment and Sanitation, Hon Babatunde Adeniyi Balogun for their unalloyed and unflinching supports to the OWMA, saying they have done well towards the development of the agency, wishing them all, Happy Sallah.
