CAF CL: Bendel Insurance Shock ASO Chlef On Penalty Shootout
Bendel Insurance of Benin, one of the Nigeria Professional Football League , NPFL, representatives in the continental CAF Confederation Cup have shocked Algerian side ASO Chlef with penalty shootout defeat.
Bendel Insurance defeated ASO Chlef 4-3 on penalties to reach the next round of the competition.
Blaze Newz gathered that the Algerian side tried to upturn the 1-0 deficit lost, defeated the Nigerian side 1-0, unfortunately, ended the game with 1-1 aggregate.
This led to a penalty shootout and Bendel Insurance won 4-3.
Congratulating the Bendel Insurance on the success, Chairman of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Gbenga Elegbeleye described the win as another confirmation of the resurgence of the domestic league.
He enjoined Enyimba and Remo Stars to replicate the feat in the CAF Champions league tie today.
The NPFL Champions will lock horns with Al Ahli Benghazi at the Enyimba Stadium, Aba, while Remo Stars will battle Medeama SC in Ikenne.
Both teams need to win convincingly to progress to the next stage of the competition.
