know Your Right And Stand By It – Police Urge Nigerians

The Osun State Police Command has advised Nigerians to know their right and stand by it.
It will be recalled that some Policemen was arrested by Osun State Police Command for allegedly extorting travellers.
The arrest followed a quick intervention of Osun House of Assembly Speaker, Hon. Adewale Egbedun who confronted the policemen on the spot of the extortion and mandated them to refund the money back to the owner.
One of the victims who was extorted by the Policemen said that he was threatened by the Policemen before he later succumb to giving the Policemen the sum of twenty- five out of the sixty-one thousand naira in his account which he claimed to be his sister’s money.
Reacting to this issue on Rave FM Osogbo on Monday, spokesperson of the Osun State Police Command, S.P Yemisi Opalola said Nigerians need to know their right and stand by it.
She said those guys money was being extorted from ought not to succumb stating that if such case is taken to the court both the giver of the bribe and the person that collect it will all go to Jail.
“In law it is not only person that collect bribe that has committed offence both the people that give the money and the people that collect it, if they are caught all of them are going to Jail, both the receiver and the keeper both of them have committed offence.
“In this day everybody suppose to have known his or her right and stand by it.”
