Osun Poly ASUP Kicks, Says Due Process Not Followed In Appointing New Ag Rector

The Academic Staff Union of Osun State Polytechnic Iree, has alleged the Osun government over not following the due process before suspending the Rector of Osun State Polytechnic Iree, Dr Tajudeen Odetayo.
It was gathered by our correspondent that the Rector of the Osun State Polytechnic Iree, Dr. Tajudeen Adetayo was suspended by the Osun government following allegations of financial recklessness, Misappropriation of fund, and corruption.
His suspension led to the appointment of an Ede born acting Rector, Mr. Kehinde Alabi who was said not to be qualify for the position.
The suspension of Odetayo led to a protest by the ASUP in that Institution hereby stopping the activities of the Institution until the Osun government reverse the suspension and follow due process
Reacting to the issue by the ASUP on Rave FM Osogbo on Wednesday, they said the Osun government did not follow the due process before suspending Odetayo stating that it is process they are fighting for not investigation.

The Union, who spoke through it’s Chairman, Dr Fatai Afolabi indicated that Alabi does not fit into that position in all ramification, the only thing that makes him fit in is that he hails from Ede.
According to Afolabi,”in Civil Service there is a laid down rules to address such ugly situation, if a petition is generated, then what you have to do is that the petition, you will attach it with a query and send it to the alleged person and the alleged person will have access to the petition and write his own story about the petition and when you are not satisfy that is when you will now take further action.
“This person has never been informed, he was not aware, he was never query, he has never face any panel and it was recorded that when this government came on board they met him as substancive Rector then the governor could not executive order and refer him back to acting Rector.

“It doesn’t follow any due process that is why we are fighting, he is one of us injustice to all is injustice to other, we are not against investigating him, there is a process of investigation.
“There is a process in Civil service, the government is the visitor but that does not mean that the government must do any how, there is a laid down rules, so they have to follow the laid down rules.
“This person that was been appointed does not qualify in all ramification, the appointment of an acting Rector must follow a laid down procedure.
“We have a deputy Rector the deputy Rector take charge when in the absence of the Rector, if there is no deputy Rector, there is no Rector then they will now appoint the most Senior Chief lecturer and this Alabi is not among the first Fifty- One to Forty if we have to rank him.
“Another thing is,for you to be appointed you must have stay five years as a Chief Lecturer he will be two years Chief Lecturer by this October.
“Another thing is that he has never supervise any student that is another one germane condition, you must come from a department that have a graduating student before you can be qualify to be appointed as either acting Rector or Rector all these does not qualify him, the only thing that qualify him to be appointed is he hails from Ede and nothing more.”
