The Chairman of the Petrol Marketers Association in Osun State, Alhaji Sulaiman Afolabi has said fuel dealers are not to be blame for increasing the price of the fuel.
He said the reason for their reaction is because over Eighty to Ninety percent of depots have shut down as at yesterday.
He said according to the information he got from people that NNPC in Lagos are also selling fuel above price.
He also stated that the source of the increase in the price they are selling fuel is the depot and not the petrol dealers.
Also, acknowledging that it was President Bola Tinubu’s statement that “fuel subsidy is gone” that created apprehension and panic in the hearts of the petrols’ dealers.
He advised Nigerians to be rest assure that the increase in the price of fuel is just for some period of time on Rave FM Osogbo on Wednesday.
Afolabi said that he is very optimistic that things will change but Nigerians should tighten their belt towards the problem coming ahead.
According to Afolabi, “I am very optimistic that thing will change, Nigerians must tighten their belt because things is going to be very tough now.
“Nigerians must be prepare that they are not going to buy fuel at two hundred naira or two hundred and fifty naira certainly it will be above three hundred naira and above but everything is going to be temporal.
“The president’s statement created apprehension and this panick in alot of them, including myself, the petrols dealers.
“The thing is they should not be blame them too much because where we are getting our supply you cannot belief that they have also close their depot.
“Over eighty to ninety percent of the depots have all shut down they have refuse to sell to anybody as at of yesterday from the information I got.
“But as of yesterday evening nobody could get a new supply, infact some of them was telling me NNPC depot in Lagos too, they are selling above the price.
“The problem is not from the dealer itself but the source, the depot is the source of our problem.”
He however said, “Nigerians are known to be prayer warriors, we must not relax, we must not relent, we must continue to pray for this new administration.”
