Police Parade Mechanic For Allegedly Killing Motocyclist In Osun

The Osun State Police Command has paraded one Olatunji Peter, 20 -year-old man on Tuesday.

The suspect allegedly beat a commercial motocyclist with firewood, who was confirmed dead at the hospital.

According to the spokesperson of the police command, S.P Yemisi Opalola, ” On 19th of January 2023, at about 10:00am, Olatunji Peter and others at large stopped the deceased who was a commercial motocyclist and asked him to take them to a site where they intended to extort money from their unsuspecting victims. ”

Futhermore, Yemisi Opalola said, “On getting to a location at Kobongbogboe area, Osogbo, the deceased left the suspects at the site without taking them back, the suspect and his colleagues got angry and when they were returning, they saw the deceased at a location, they decended on him, beat him with firewoods and planks until he fainted. ”

According to an interview with Peter, he said, ” I am a Mechanic and I was trying to look for Thirty thousand naira, to collect my bike in police custody. ”

Peter ,however, said, ” the reason why my bike was in police custody was because, I accidentally jammed my bike with police car, so, when I realise it was police car, out of fear, I ran away and the police went away with my bike.

“On getting to the Police Station to plead, I was charged thirty thousand naira to have my bike. ”

Peter futher explained that, “It was this money I was trying to look for when I came across those guys and they promised to helped me with any amount they have, if I could follow them to the place where the incident happened. ”

“I was not the one that beats the man with firewood, I only punched the bike man when he stabbed me with a bottle, while trying to defend himself .” Said Peter.

Also, he said ” the policemen has not yet arrested other guys because they have ran away and yet to be seen after several searched. ”

S. P Yemisi said, ” the Suspect will be charged to court after the completion of investigation. ”
